We enjoy the Halloween experience in our household. I personally love putting together her costume choice (and know I only have a few more years where my input and participation are even asked for in the first place!)
Well, this year I think we have another great costume & I still like to celebrate old school.
This year, Chitlin' wanted to be an equestrian & a princess at the same time.
We were very excited to inform her that a very real person, whose name was also Anne, was an Olympic competitor in in the equine area. (Can we give a hoot & holler for the '76 Olympics?!)
Woot.
Anywho, here's how the costume turned out:

Behind this costume was a complete family effort.
-Competition Jacket: Handmade by paternal grandmother.
-Riding Boots: Gifted from maternal grandparents.
-Clothes: School Uniform
-Horse on a stick: Purchased from the dollar store
-Blue Award Ribbon: $2.43 on clearance at Michaels.
-Hat: (a transformed foam pirate hat)
I hot glued a button to the top, a red hair bow hot glued as a trim, the chin strap was re purposed as they came with a set of sheets purchased some time ago.
-Olympic Tags for Jacket & Award Ribbon: Printed at home and encased in photo protecting sheets for that glossy look...
For some reason, I was triggered when my friend said something to the effect that her costume "looked rich." This writing was a vain attempt to show that I personally don't put a huge sum of money into this holiday yet I actually 'outed' the fact that I keep random bits of anything to put to crafty use & spend way more time than I care to admit putting the costume together...
This time is making us all weird about accounting for what we do or do not have to and how we choose to spend it.
